About Me
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), which is the governing body for counselling. As a Member of BACP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein. I also adhere to their recommendations for regular supervision.I am an accredited member of The Counselling Society
Since 2005 I have been working with GPs in the Lincoln area helping people to deal with abuse, bereavement and loss, childhood trauma, depression, eating disorders, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, stress, traumatic experiences and lack of direction in life.
I have recently helped to form 'Lincoln Independent Community Counselling Group' which provides counselling in your community. Currently working from Woodlands Medical Practice, but the service is available to other GP's and organisations. Please contact me for details.
With an Advanced Diploma in Counselling my preferred method of counselling is person centred. This allows the client a safe place to explore their thoughts and feelings. You will be treated with warmth, humanity and respect, valued as a person and not judged by your actions
Like most people I have experienced life's ups and downs. I first experienced the benefits of counselling many years ago when I was struggling with several personal issues and couldn't see a way forward. Counselling helped me enormously and I found I was able to work through my problems and move on with my life.
I was a consultant with Slimming World in Lincoln for over 2 years, and their training looked at the psychological side of weight loss as well as the practical methods. During my time with Slimming World I became more and more interested in the relationship people have with food which prompted me to embark on the years of training it takes to become a qualified counsellor.
I still use counselling from time to time when I need some extra help and direction in my life. I find it helps me to see problems and issues more clearly and I can see what I need to do to move forward.
